Put a lot of time into this one and had a blast. Been a while since I did something that actually sprouted from my own mind.

I really wanted to make a sort of wide-screen cutout of the image. Just like the cinematic look of it.

This is the initial rough I made. I usually spend quite a lot of time on these to get everything in the right place. It is also most heavily edited. I originally had the horseman on the left, for instance.

After that I make the line-art. Every character in a separate layer, which is important for later steps.

I "grey" all the characters / layers, so I can more easily color them.

The separate layers thing comes in most heavily here. I use white to create a sort of fog that I use for depth, along with the intended snow. I also pick a lightsource.

The last step is putting shadows and lighting on everything in accordance with the lightsource I picked initially.
